How we handle your personal data

What we collect, who it is shared with, how long we keep it, and how to ask for it to be deleted.

An ESTA application involves sensitive information: your passport, your identity, your travel plans and your answers to the eligibility questions. Here is what happens to it.

What we collect

  • Your identity and passport details, as printed on your passport

  • The photo of your passport and your ID photo

  • Your contact details and your travel information

  • Your answers to the eligibility questions

We collect this because the official application requires it. We do not ask for anything the application does not need.

Who it is shared with

Your application data is submitted to the US authorities, which is the whole purpose of the service. Beyond that, it is used by our team to prepare and check your file, and by the technical providers who run our site and our payment processing.

We do not sell your data and we do not pass it to advertisers.

Your payment details

Card payments are handled by our payment provider. We never see, hold or store your card number.

How long we keep it

Application data is kept for as long as we need it to provide the service and to meet our legal and accounting obligations.

Passport scans uploaded on applications that were never paid for are deleted automatically after seven days.

Your rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask for a correction, or ask for your data to be deleted. Write to us from the email address on the file, with your file number.

Deletion is not always immediate: while an application is with the US authorities, or while accounting obligations still apply, some data has to be kept. We will tell you plainly what can be deleted and what cannot, and why.

Keeping your own file safe

Your tracking area is reached with your file number and your email address, so treat your file number as private. We will never ask you for card details, and we will never ask for your passport by message when you can upload it yourself.
